Gnomes are a classic feature in The Sims games, often appearing in random places and causing mischief. In The Sims 4: Seasons, they are part of the Harvestfest holiday festivities, appearing around the lot as part of an activity called Holiday Gnomes. During this event, the gnomes must be given gifts to appease them. The wrong gift triggers the gnome to break things and generally make a mess, so it’s good to know exactly the right gift to give to each gnome to make them happy. To help you gift them the right items, I’ve put together this Sims 4 gnome guide!
I’ve included a picture for each gnome so you can tell which is which. Check out the ‘Gnome Gifts Cheat Sheet’ section below for a quick cheat sheet!
Gnomes in The Sims 4
There are twenty-one gnomes currently in the game. Most are purchased from the Sculptures section of the Decor category in Build mode. A large number of them come with The Sims 4 base game, but some are from later expansions and game packs. The Gnome Simmi and Golden Gnome Simmi can be obtained from Simmi vending machines, but they don’t participate in the Holiday Gnomes event. The High-Rider Gnome also chooses not to participate — maybe he’s just having too much fun riding his flamingo.

Gifts to Give Each Gnome
There are six kinds of gifts that can be given to gnomes in The Sims 4. Your Sim doesn’t need to have any of these items in their inventory; this is a special holiday interaction and the item will be provided. Here are the options:
- Coffee
- Salad
- Pie
- Toy
- Fruitcake
- Future Cube
Most gnomes like three of the six gifts, but some have no preference and will respond at random. We have a handy table of all the gnomes and their gifts, but it’s easier to recognize a gnome visually than by their name, so we’ll also look at each gnome individually in the sections below. Gnomes that do not participate in the Holiday Gnomes activity are listed in the table, but we didn’t give them their own section.
Bare Essentials Gnome
This mischievous little guy comes with the base game, and likes pie, salad, and toy gifts.
Bearly Gnome
These playful critters come with The Sims 4 base game. They prefer pie, salad, and toy gifts.
Captain Gnome
These winking sailors come with the Growing Together expansion pack. They like pie, salad, and toy gifts.
Don’t Fear the Reagnomper
These ominous scythe-wielders are from The Sims 4 base game. They enjoy pie, salad, and toy gifts.
Gnome Matter What, I’m Still Your Baby
These gaga little guys are part of The Sims 4 base game. They appreciate coffee, fruitcake, and future cube gifts.
Guardians of the Gnomelaxy
These mean green gnome machines come with The Sims 4 base game. It’s probably no surprise that they like future cube gifts. They also enjoy coffee and toys.
Happy Gnome Garden Pal
These cheerful gnome friends come from The Sims 4 base game. They prefer coffee, fruitcake, and future cube gifts.
Happy Gnomiversary
These dapper chaps come with The Sims 4 base game, and they prefer coffee, future cube, and toy gifts.
Herb the Posey Protector
This flowery fellow comes with the Cottage Living expansion. It’s only logical that he loves salad gifts. He also appreciates pie and toys.
Mr. Floppy the Gnome
These hoppy little bunny-gnomes are part of The Sims 4 base game. Unsurprisingly, they love salad. They also accept pie and toy gifts.
“Onward” The Adventure Gnome
This gnome was a special pre-order bonus item for the Cottage Living expansion. Unfortunately it’s no longer obtainable. He has no preferred gifts – his reaction to any gift is completely random, so give with caution!
Poolside Gnome
These little ladies and their attached life preservers are part of The Sims 4 base game. They like coffee, pie, and toys.
Strictly Business Gnome
Urgently running to nowhere, these busy dudes are part of The Sims 4 base game. It seems only natural that they’d love coffee. They also like pie and toys.
The Ghastly Ghostly Gnome
These eerie little spectral gnomes are part of The Sims 4 base game, and prefer coffee, fruitcake, and future cube gifts.
The Gnome Wolf
These furry gnome-beasts come with the Werewolves game pack. They prefer pie, salad, and toy gifts.
The Sweetest Little Gnome
This enthusiastic little guy comes with the Little Campers kit. His preferred gifts are pie, salad, and toy.
There’s No Place Like Gnome
These friendly faces come with The Sims 4 base game. They enjoy coffee, fruitcake, and future cube gifts.
Upside Down Gnome Decor
Found in the Misc section of the Surfaces category in Build mode, these stackable table gnomes do accept gifts, although they don’t display their approval or disapproval with a halo or flame above their head. They also have no apparent preferences, so you should only give them a gift if you want to roll the dice.
