Despite being over four years old, Overwatch is consistently one of the most-watched games on Twitch. Newer games like Apex Legends and Valorant have certainly pushed it lower in the rankings from where it once stood, but something about this silly shooter full of cowboys, talking apes, and high-tech ninja preservers.
The game itself is obviously responsible for most of its own popularity — no other shooter quite matches Overwatch’s propensity for vibrant, high-octane violence. It also has one of the most well-designed casts of playable characters. Each hero has unique abilities and favors a different playstyle. The gambit of diverse tactics seen in Overwatch makes it just as entertaining to watch as it is to play. But there’s another reason for the game’s popularity on the great purple streaming network — the best Overwatch streamers.
The Best Overwatch Streamers
There are a lot of different kinds of streamers out there. Maybe you watch one for the funny voice they do whenever they die, and another for their almost supernatural ability to snap off headshots. Maybe you prefer to watch a perfectly synced team of players execute a perfect strategy. There’s a channel out there for everyone.
With all the streamers out there, how do you know which ones are great and which ones to avoid? Well, friends, we put together this list of the five best Overwatch Twitch streamers with a roundup of the best streamers for each hero to help you find the channel that’s right for you (we even threw in the best Overwatch streamers YouTube channel, just in case you don’t want to watch them live)!
Ready to find out who the best Overwatch streamers are? Here we go!
1. A_Seagull
The best Overwatch streamer overall
It’s pretty safe to say that A_Seagull is the most popular purely-Overwatch stream on Twitch right now. He has over a million followers, making his the second most popular stream after the Overwatch League.
Brandon “Seagull” Larned started as a competitive Team Fortress 2 player. He then played for Dallas Fuel in the Overwatch League Inaugural Season. Now he mostly focuses his efforts on Twitch, which is great for us because his stream is a lot of fun.
People like to watch Seagull because he is friendly, knowledgeable, and pretty darn good at Overwatch. He enjoys answering questions, which keeps his stream helpful and informative for viewers looking to get better at the game themselves. He likes to play around with a lot of different characters, but he’s most well known for Genji, Junkrat, Pharah, Hanzo, and D.Va.
2. xQc
The best variety + Overwatch streamer
Félix Lengyel, or xQc, is a Canadian Twitch streamer who got his start playing Overwatch professionally. He is also currently the sub-main tank for Gladiators Legion and the biggest Twitch streamer on this list.
xQc is technically a variety streamer, so he often doesn’t show up on Overwatch lists, but the Blizzard shooter is still his main game. He’s dedicated himself to streaming full time since Gladiators Legion won’t participate in the rest of this year’s season. xQc streams over ten hours a day to an average of 40,000 viewers. Catching him playing Overwatch is hit-or-miss, but it’s always worth seeing when you do.
Some people consider his personality to be abrasive. I haven’t personally experienced this, but it’s something to keep in mind. Still, he must be doing something right since he’s currently up to 3.7 million followers.
xQc primarily plays Winston, Reinhardt, and Orisa.
3. Kephrii
The best DPS Overwatch streamer
Brian St. Pierre, AKA Kephrii, likes all kinds of competitive FPS games, but none more than Overwatch. He recently played the game for Global eSports.
He’s a former Intelligence Analyst for the U.S. Army and now works as a full-time streamer. All that training must have done something for him because this guy knows how to put out DPS like nobody’s business. He mains Widowmaker, but occasionally plays Ashe and Mei as well. His is the stream you’re looking for if you want to watch someone snipe enemies with mind-boggling precision.
He’s currently up to 560K followers.
4. Emongg
The best tank Overwatch streamer
Jeff Anderson (Emongg) is another competitive player. He started out with CS:GO but has been focusing exclusively on Overwatch in recent years. He played for Selfless Gaming pre-OWL, but has since shifted his focus more toward streaming.
Emongg primarily plays tanks and off-tanks. D.Va, Zarya, Roadhog, and Reinhardt are his most frequent choices. He’s a professional through and through whether he’s playing in a tournament or just on stream. He’s a great one to watch for any players interested in learning good team communication and tactics. You’d also be hard-pressed to find a better tank.
5. Rudeism
The best creative Overwatch streamer
Not all streamers are famous for their shooting. Some of them have to get a little more creative. Rudeism is a streamer from New Zealand, and his stream is a delight to watch because he always takes a unique approach to the ways he plays the games we love. His channel description is “I can turn anything into a controller,” and he absolutely can. Like say, creating a homemade sniper controller for Widowmaker, a broomstick/Nerf gun controller for Mercy, or — I don’t know — playing Winston with a set of bananas.
He even created a wearable goose suit to play Untitled Goose Game.
Rudeism might not have the most technically advanced gameplay on Twitch, but he’s got the entertainment factor on lock. It’s always fun to check in and see what new invention he has brewing.
BONUS: Blizzard Guides
The best Overwatch streamers YouTube channel
Sometimes you log into Twitch and none of your favorite streamers are online. You might not even want to watch streamers live, preferring to catch the highlights or explore a few of the streamer’s videos before committing to a stream that’s going to last hours. That’s where YouTube comes in.
Blizzard Guides is a great channel for Overwatch lovers. There are plenty of tips-and-tricks videos for those looking to improve their own skills, but the channel also includes some great highlight videos that you can use to check out streamers. Blizzard Guides has a “Most Viewed Twitch Clips of the Week” segment with over a hundred episodes!
Best Streamers for Each Overwatch Hero
Now that we know our top five, we want to give you a quick roundup of the best streamers for each Overwatch hero. Watching a talented player is one of the best ways to pick up skills and tactics, so you can use this list to find a streamer who can expertly control your favorite character!
Do keep in mind that streamers often change up their mains (and even the games they’re playing). Don’t be too surprised if you show up for a stream and find them using a different hero or elbow-deep in a game of Among Us.
