Crash Bandicoot 4: What Are Hidden Gems?

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is a great sequel that manages to stay true to the original trilogy of games while also expanding upon it and improving it in certain areas. Like all the other games in the series, there is an abundance of collectibles for players to acquire. One such collectible in Crash Bandicoot 4 is the hidden gems.

But just what are hidden gems, anyway? How many are there in the game? And where do you go in order to unlock them? We will be answering all of these questions and more in this article!

Crash Bandicoot 4: Hidden Gems Explained

With that introduction out of the way, let’s jump right into the article!

What Are Hidden Gems?

Before we talk about HIDDEN gems, let’s explain what gems are. Gems are collectible items that look like white diamonds. They are the most common collectible that can be found in Crash Bandicoot 4 besides the Wumpa Fruit.

Gems can be collected in order to unlock special costumes for Crash and Coco, which you can equip from the main menu. They can also be used to unlock other bonuses, such as concept art. If you want to 100% complete the game, you are going to need to get every single gem, including the hidden gems.

Hidden gems are–as the name suggests–gems that have been scattered around and hidden in specific locations. Each level has one hidden gem for you to collect (technically two if you consider the N-verted versions to be the same levels as the non-N-verted ones). And there are many different places where you can find these gems, some being easier than others.

Where Do You Find Them?

When you are playing through Crash Bandicoot 4, it’s best to keep your eyes peeled for these gemstones. Sometimes there are hints as to where they are. You might catch a glimpse of one gently poking out from behind a wall.

Make sure to explore thoroughly, as sometimes gems will be hidden inside areas. I recommend you move your camera around often to reveal parts of the level that are not automatically shown to you. Sometimes these gems will be out of view of the default camera.

Of course, even if you explore every inch of the game, there are many gems that you simply cannot find on your own without a guide or without getting lucky. Toys 4 Bob was very unforgiving when hiding certain gems in the game. IGN has posted a complete guide detailing exactly where you can find each and every gem in Crash Bandicoot 4.
