Blue Seed Farming in Sonic Frontiers

Sonic Frontiers is finally here, and many people agree that this is one of the best 3D Sonic games we’ve gotten in years. The change to a more open world format has brought in a wider range of collectibles, including Blue Seeds of Defense. These are one of the more important items in the game, so we’ll be covering Blue Seed farming in Sonic Frontiers, from how to get started to why it’s so important.

With that introduction out of the way, let’s get right into our article on how to farm Blue Seeds in Sonic Frontiers!

What Are Blue Seeds?

Blue Seeds of Defense are a type of collectible that you can pick up during your adventure in Sonic Frontiers. They look like little blue pods that have a glowing, cyan outline. They’re found all over the Starfall Islands and are one of the most valuable collectibles in the game. If you find one, you can give it to an NPC named Hermit Koco. He can then use the Blue Seed(s) to increase Sonic’s defensive power!

For each Blue Seed you collect and upgrade Sonic with, you’ll lose fewer rings every time you take damage. This is very valuable in combat scenarios, especially later in the game, where taking damage in boss fights becomes all too common. As you can imagine, you’ll want to collect as many Blue Seeds of Defense as you possibly can.

How to Get Blue Seeds

There are several different ways that you can get Blue Seeds of Defense in Sonic Frontiers. The first is by simply exploring the map and finding them scattered about around platforming challenges and in hidden areas. The second is by searching locked metal boxes, which sometimes have Blue Seeds in them. The third is by using Cyloop on an empty patch of ground, which gives you a chance to get Blue Seeds, as well as a handful of rings.

Enemies (both regular ones and bosses) will sometimes drop Blue Seeds of Defense, so be sure to fight any enemies you see for a chance of getting them. The game might also give you a Blue Seed when you complete a challenge to reveal more of the map. Last but not least, you can also get Blue Seeds by purchasing them in Big the Cat’s shop.

The most effective Blue Seed farming method in Sonic Frontiers is to play the fishing mini-game to farm Fish Tokens, which you can then spend to unlock Blue Seeds from Big’s shop. You’ll first need to find purple coins, which you’ll need to play the minigame. You can find them scattered everywhere around the islands. Once you’ve collected enough, it’s time to find a fishing spot.

You can play the fishing minigame by finding a structure on the map that looks like the ones you use to take you to the cyberspace levels. This time, however, it will be colored purple instead of red. Interact with it when you find it, and Sonic will be transported into cyberspace again, but this time at a much more tranquil spot.

There, you’ll talk to Big the Cat, who will let you borrow his rod to fish. Keep catching fish and you’ll quickly earn loads of tokens. Then just head into his shop after you’ve caught a bunch and you can quickly purchase lots and lots of Blue Seeds! If you want to maximize your earnings, make sure to find a fishing spot on one of the late-game islands. I’ve noticed that those ones pay more tokens per catch.
