The captivating realm of Pokémon GO is home to numerous species, with Dragon-types capturing attention due to their might and splendor. These mythical beasts, revered for their potency and versatility, offer an enticing addition to any trainer’s team. That’s why we here at High Ground Gaming have put together a list of the best dragon type Pokémon in Pokémon GO, shedding light on their stats, movesets, and other vital details.
Dragon Type Overview
Dragon-types are generally some of the most powerful Pokémon in the game. They generally have high stats and learn very strong attack moves. The downside for these Pokémon is usually the difficulty of how they are obtained as well as their weakness to the very common Fairy-typing.
Druddigon
Druddigon has an attack of 213, defense of 170, and an HP of 184. Its catch rate is 20%, and it’s a pure Dragon type. With Dragon Tail and Bite as its fast moves, its charge moves feature Dragon Claw, Giga Impact, and Night Slash. Ever since its inclusion in 2019, Druddigon, with a rugged dragon design featuring vivid colors, has been a favorite for many. It’s typically found wild and does not evolve from or into any other Pokémon.
Kommo-o
This Dragon and Fighting type Pokémon features an attack of 222, defense of 183, and an HP of 181. It holds a catch rate of 20%. With fast moves Dragon Tail and Counter, it has charge moves like Clanging Scales, Close Combat, and Sky Uppercut. Introduced in 2020, its design showcases a dragon draped in golden scales, similar to armor. To evolve it from Hakamo-o, trainers need 100 candies.
Haxorus
Haxorus boasts an impressive attack of 284, complemented by a defense of 183 and an HP of 183. It has a catch rate of 20% and is a pure Dragon type. With fast moves like Dragon Tail and Counter and charge moves such as Dragon Claw, Earthquake, and Night Slash, it’s quite a contender in battles. Its debut in late 2019 introduced players to its axe-blade-inspired dragon design. From Fraxure, 100 candies are required for its evolution.
Dragapult
This Pokémon has an attack of 246, a defense of 142, and an HP of 186. With a catch rate of 20%, it’s an authentic Dragon and Ghost type. Known for its fast moves Dragon Breath and Hex, its charge moves include Draco Meteor, Shadow Ball, and Outrage. Debuted in Pokémon GO in late 2020, its design is evocative of a stealth bomber mixed with a dragon. Evolving it from Drakloak requires 100 candies.
Noivern
Noivern comes with an attack of 205, defense of 175, and an HP of 198. With a 20% catch rate, it hails from the Dragon and Flying types. Introduced in 2020, Zekrom, representing ideals and electricity, is a must-have. Being a Legendary Pokémon, no candies are required.
Reshiram
Reshiram holds an attack of 275, defense of 211, and HP of 205. It has a 2% catch rate and belongs to the Dragon and Fire types. Latias

Latios
Latios has an attack of 268, a defense of 212, and an HP of 190. With a 2% catch rate, it’s a Dragon and Psychic type. Fast moves at its disposal are Dragon Breath and Zen Headbutt, and its charge moves include Dragon Claw, Psychic, and Solar Beam. Available since April 2018, Latios, with a jet-plane inspired design, is a Legendary Pokémon and doesn’t require candies to obtain of evolve.
Giratina (Altered Forme)
Giratina in its Altered Forme presents an attack of 187, defense of 225, and HP of 284. It has a 2% catch rate and is dual-typed as Dragon and Ghost. Shadow Claw and Dragon Breath are its fast moves, and its charge moves are Dragon Claw, Ancient Power, and Shadow Sneak. Debuting in October 2018, its ghostly dragon design is derived from antimatter. It’s a Legendary Pokémon and requires no candies for acquisition.
Dialga
Dialga features an attack of 275, defense of 211, and HP of 205. With a catch rate of 2%, it stands as a Dragon and Steel type. Its fast moves are Dragon Breath and Metal Claw, while its charge moves are Draco Meteor, Iron Head, and Thunder. Added in March 2019, its temporal design signifies control over time. Palkia

Garchomp

Fast moves in its arsenal are Dragon Tail and Mud Shot, while its charge moves feature Outrage, Earthquake, and Fire Blast. Introduced in April 2019, Garchomp’s design is akin to a land-shark dragon. Evolving it from Gabite requires 100 candies.
Drampa
Last but not least, Drampa showcases an attack of 231, defense of 164, and an impressive HP of 242. With a catch rate of 20%, its unique type combination is Dragon and Normal. Dragon Breath and Extrasensory are its fast moves, and its charge moves are Outrage, Thunderbolt, and Hyper Beam. Since its debut in November 2020, Drampa, bearing resemblance to a serene elderly Chinese dragon, has been a favorite. It can be caught in the wild without any candy prerequisites.
Goodra
Goodra presents an attack of 220, a robust defense of 242, and an HP of 207. It has a catch rate of 20% and proudly represents the Dragon type. Its fast moves encompass Dragon Breath and Water Gun, while its charge moves feature Draco Meteor, Muddy Water, and Power Whip. Since November 2020, players have admired Goodra for its unique design, resembling a gooey dragon with dripping antennas. A collection of 100 candies is needed for its evolution from Sliggoo.
Altaria
Altaria has an attack of 141, defense of 201, and an HP of 181. With a catch rate of 20%, its dual typing is Dragon and Flying. The Pokémon’s fast moves are Dragon Breath and Peck, while its charge moves include Sky Attack, Dazzling Gleam, and Dragon Pulse. Since its introduction in February 2018, Altaria, with its bird-like appearance swathed in fluffy, cloud-like feathers, has captured many hearts. An impressive 400 candies are needed to evolve it from Swablu.
Dragonite
Dragonite’s stats feature an attack of 263, defense of 201, and HP of 209. Its catch rate stands at 5%, and it falls under the Dragon and Flying type umbrella. Dragon Breath and Steel Wing are its primary fast moves, while its charge moves list includes Draco Meteor, Outrage, and Hurricane. First seen in Pokémon GO in July 2016, Dragonite’s design portrays an orange dragon with expansive wings. Evolving it from Dragonair requires an investment of 100 candies.
Salamence
Salamence boasts an impressive attack of 277, complemented by a defense of 168 and an HP of 216. With a catch rate of 20%, it belongs to the Dragon and Flying type categories. Mega Ampharos
Mega Ampharos boasts a transformed attack of 294, a defense of 203, and an HP of 207. With a base catch rate of 20%, its typing is intriguingly Electric and Dragon. Volt Switch and Charge Beam remain its primary fast moves, while its charge moves expand to include Dragon Pulse, Zap Cannon, and Power Gem. Its Mega Evolution gives Ampharos a majestic, flowing mane, emphasizing its new Dragon attribute. Like others, Mega Energy is the key to unlocking this form, typically sourced from Mega Raids.
Mega Charizard X
This unique Mega Evolution of Charizard possesses an attack of 273, a defense of 213, and an HP of 186. Sporting a catch rate of 20%, Mega Charizard X adopts a dual Dragon and Fire typing. Dragon Breath and Fire Spin are its core fast moves, with Blast Burn, Dragon Claw, and Flamethrower as charge moves. Its design is a darker, more draconian transformation with blue flames spewing from its mouth. Mega Energy, primarily from Mega Raids, is essential for its Mega Evolution.
