Not soon after starting a new job as a Product Manager, Chris “Sacriel” Ball decided to start up a YouTube channel. Mostly out of a whim and general interest in the platform, that decision has since crafted most of Sacriel’s life. Starting out making videos purely for the sake of making them, and rarely expecting any sort of viewership, to now streaming 6 days a week in front of a crowd of thousands.

The story of Sacriel is rather spectacular, and one of dedication and sacrifice. Characteristics that seem absolutely necessary when it comes to making it within the world of streaming. Whether or not Sacriel harbors these characteristics isn’t up for debate, the answer is yes; he does. But it’s not just an interest in the activity and a building desire for change that made Sacriel succeed. Join us as we discuss more of what has made Chris Ball into Sacriel.

Sacriel Analysis

Despite his highly capable computer, Sacriel has decided that when it comes to EFT, the graphical settings aren’t nearly as important as the gameplay itself. And, as Sacriel is someone who believes themselves to be well versed in the world of gameplay mechanics, it’s easy to see why that might be his path. Keeping the texture and shadow qualities at medium has allowed for Sacriel to gather as much information as necessary in order to snipe with his notorious skill. For Sacriel, there is little need for anything other than the absolute essentials.

As someone who grew up admiring games and the companies that provided specialized gear, Sacriel has frequently expressed his disbelief in being sponsored by any company, let alone gaming companies. You can sense his enjoyment of the endorsements simply by looking at his gear, most of which is Corsair. Thankfully, this all allows for Sacriel to stream with the best quality possible, and for him to comfortably drink his favorite teas.

Another source of obvious enjoyment, and often times embarrassment, is Sacriel’s Manager, and Wife, Shannon Plante. The two were married back in July of 2018, and have since been enjoying the married life together. The two of them only met due to Twitch as Shannon was one of his Moderators when he first started out.

Due to Sacriel’s dedication and overall positive attitude, his streaming schedule is up there amongst the most accurate and reliable. You can find Sacriel streaming every day save Thursdays, and doing so for at least 8 hours each day. If you’re not from across the pond, worry not as you can find all of the best moments from his streams on his YouTube channel. If you want to keep up with Sacriel, make sure to follow him on Twitter and on Twitch.

Sacriel Bio

Sacriel’s affection for gaming wasn’t simply born when he started uploading to YouTube. In fact, like many others, Sacriel grew to love gaming over the years of his youth. Before landing on Sacriel around the age of 15, Chris had opted more for the handle of “Mace”. It wasn’t until beginning his journey into WoW that he decided that the name would be rather “silly” given the context, and opted for something a little bit different. Searching through numerous ‘paladin angel names’, it wasn’t long until Chris uncovered the persona that we’ve all come to know; “Sacriel”.

The newly established name stuck with Chris for years, through to early into 2007 when he decided to dive into the endless realm of possibility that was YouTube. Creating videos of his gameplay from Battlefield, Crysis 2, and DayZ, Sacriel didn’t know YouTube was going to be an avenue for profit. After about 6 years with his company, they were bought out and could either offer a newer, higher, position to Sacriel that he didn’t want, or they could provide him with redundancy. Seeing his channel grow, and watching as the hours of the day slowly dwindled down with all the content Sacriel was hoping to add, he chose what many would consider being a massive gamble, and he took the redundancy.

Living off the funds provided from his leave for a few months, Sacriel dove all-in to YouTube. Making videos almost daily, providing insight into the world of DayZ, informing newer players of what to expect, and collaborating with other YouTubers at the time to make a very strong community of like-minded individuals. Eventually, Sacriel found his footing. The revenue from YouTube was now enough to make up for his lost income, his community was slowly but surely forming into the 42nd, and he’d just gotten the ball rolling.

However, like many, Sacriel was greatly impacted by changes within the YouTube algorithms made him lose viewership, subscribers, and his presence. Fearing the worst, Sacriel took another gamble and started looking towards Twitch. Due to his following from YouTube, the budding community of Twitch, and the ability to live stream with thousands, it turned out that this gamble was one that would finally pay off for Sacriel. As he transferred, so did the 42nd. So much of his time and energy went into the new platform, that his YouTube presence almost sputtered out entirely. Thankfully though, Sacriel saw the positive aspects of the site and continues to upload his adventures to this day. It’s likely that Sacriel’s dances with disaster are finally at an end as his Twitch presence continues to grow, and he still fosters the same environment that he started out with so many years ago.
