Imane “Pokimane” Anys was born in Morocco, eventually moving to Canada early in her life. Her streaming name comes from her love of the Pokémon series, which she began playing at an early age and possibly established her love of gaming. While she’s grown both her YouTube and Twitch channels incredibly fast over the last few years, she originally launched her channels in 2012. It wasn’t until 2017, where her acumen for League of Legends, caused her to gain over 450 thousand followers and jump into the top 100 most followed on the platform. Due to this jump, she won the 2017 Shorty Award for Best Twitch Streamer of the Year.
From here she had the opportunity to partner with Twitch officially, and in 2018 she became one of 15 ambassadors for TwitchCon that year. At the same time, she began dipping her toes into streaming Fortnite, regularly partnering with team TSI members for Duos matches. Until recently, she would regularly split her time between LOL and Fortnite, but as of March, she has limited the amount of Fortnite play in favor of a diverse array of games.
Unlike many Twitch streamers, she has pulled double duty and equally grown her YouTube presence as a content creator. As part of Offline TV, a collaborative YouTube channel, she’s had the opportunity to work with other creators and develop a personality not directly tied to gaming.
