Known for his almost incomprehensible sniping abilities in Fortnite, Dakotaz has become a major figure in Twitch and streaming in whole. While not showing his face for a majority of his streaming career, Dakotaz has managed to gain a large following and he’s done so rather quickly. Currently coming off a departure from TSM, Dakotaz is still growing and streaming every single day.
It’s not only his skill that has allowed him such growth though. Many of Dakotaz’s followers enjoy his rather personal talks and commentary that can be found at almost any moment of his streams.
Transitioning from PUBG into Fortnite was possibly the best decision that Dakotaz has made so far in his life, but was it only that good decision that got him to where he is now? Join us as we dive into the life of the otherwise elusive Dakotaz.

Known almost exclusively for his sniping capabilities, Dakotaz is quite the professional streamer. Having gained credibility through his introduction to the TSM family, and later leaving said family, Dakotaz has made his intentions clear. He’s going to be a streamer before he’s a professional player.
Sporting the equipment and settings to back that claim, Dakotaz airs on the side of comfort and ease, rather than on pomp and circumstance. His computer, while rather beefy, doesn’t have the same amount of oomf as some other streamers of Fortnite. That coupled with is lack of a secondary streaming computer means that while gaming, he has the possibility to experience some delay, which is all but outlawed in the professional circuit.
However, it’s worth noting that this possibility has not negatively affected his gameplay. Sporting over a 25% win rate out of his nearly 23,000 matches in Fortnite, it’s obvious that even if he’s setting himself up for quality streams, he has also nearly perfected what it takes to win.
Also reflecting on his dedication to streaming over competting is his schedule. Dakotaz easily boasts one of the most consisitant streaming schedules in Fortnite as you’ll likely find him every weekday streaming at the same time, and occasionally you’ll see him on weekends. Make sure to follow Dakotaz on Twitter or Twitch to avoid missing any of his snipes.

He didn’t start out as the influential and well known streamer of course. Not much is known about Brett “Dakotaz” Hoffman’s life prior to streaming, however it’s rather obvious that gaming wasn’t a new occurrence to him. Being born in the late 80’s with two brothers, Larry and Brian, Dakotaz likely spent a good amount of time around a NES.
It wasn’t until 2012, when Dakotaz was 26, that he started streaming and began his YouTube career. Unlike many streamers starting out, Dakotas was aware of the need that YouTube and other social platforms played when it came to gaining a following. He made sure that most of his streams were available to audiences on YouTube, that he was posting on Instagram, and utilizing as many platforms as possible to gain some standing in the gaming community.
Thankfully for him, Dakotaz’s skills were more than enough to get attention from not only the Twitch community, but also from TSM who would later add him to their roster of streamers in 2018. Although, before TSM, Dakotaz admits that his efforts were so successful that he was able to quit his job after only two months of streaming in order to pursue it full-time.
Dakotaz started his streams playing other FPSs like PUGB, and it wasn’t really until the release of Fortnite that he saw a lot of his current recognition and admiration. Arguably, 2018 was the biggest year for Dakotaz as he joined the previously mentioned TSM, passed the 1 million subscriber milestone, and started being associated even more with Fortnite as a whole. One year after joining TSM, Dakotaz decided he was going to leave and do his best on his own, admitting that he didn’t believe there was a point as he just wanted to stream.
Dakotaz is a rather elusive guy, with most of the information about his personal life coming from him. It even took Dakotaz a solid few years of full-time streaming before he did a face reveal.
