 72hrs Analysis

Currently ranked #67 for highest earnings in the United States, 72hrs consistently finishes out in the top 20 in both online, in-person and lan tournaments. Unlike many players that kicked off their careers in 2018, he hasn’t seen as much of a dip in competitive placements due to the consistently changing meta of Fortnite. While he does participate in full squad play, 72hrs does seem to enjoy duos the most out of any game mode.

72hrs Bio

Thomas “72hrs” Mulligan was born in New Jersey on May 26, 1994. With his family moving a lot in his early childhood, Thomas found solace in gaming as a great way to discover new and different worlds that only gaming had to offer. His fondness for gaming led to him to start streaming Dead By Daylight in 2014. Originally just using streaming as a hobby while attending medical school, 72hrs soon found himself gaining a following across both YouTube and Twitch and began talking with his dad about the possibility of turning his side hustle into a full-time gig.

This would soon become a reality once 72hrs switched to streaming Fortnite in 2018, attracting the attention of FaZe Clan due to his winning combo of competitive play and snarky personality. In March of 2018, he was invited onto FaZe Clan by the Fortnite team captain, Cloakzy, but his tenure on the team wouldn’t last long. Leaving in June of the same year, he quickly joined Team Liquid’s brand new Fortnite squad, consisting of Poach, Chap, and Vivid, who he had already begun teaming up with months beforehand.

While 72hrs and Team Liquid quickly rose to be a prominent force in the professional Fortnite community, some internal controversy that blew up with him rage quitting on the air in December of 2018, caused some to question the longevity of the squad. However, even with a few roster changes and claims of any anger on stream being for the sake of content, Team Liquid, and 72hrs have continued to be a competitive force in the Fortnite community.

He still places consistently in competitive play and continues to build his brands across Twitch and YouTube, showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
